This position is for the library’s second Health & Human Services Librarian who will serve as liaison librarian to the and related programs in the and/or the .

The Health & Human Services Librarian is a member of UNCW Library’s (ARE) division, which collaborates with faculty, staff, and students in UNCW academic units to provide information literacy instruction, assist with research, develop the library collection, provide consultative services supporting research and scholarly communication, and partner on programming, in alignment with the information and research needs of campus constituents.

Cataloging and Metadata Librarian, Pitts Theology Library, Emory University

Reporting to the Head of Cataloging, the Cataloging and Metadata Librarian is a key member of the Pitts Theology Library’s technical services team, contributing to the internal consistency and quality control of the data and metadata of the Library’s discovery systems and supports the discoverability and accessibility of the Library’s resources. The Cataloging and Metadata Librarian contributes to the processing of the Library’s new acquisitions by producing quality catalog records of bibliographically complex materials. The Cataloging and Metadata Librarian works closely with members of the Access Services team in refining catalog records and with the Digital Asset Librarian and Technology Development Librarian in supporting the operation of the Library catalog and managing the Library’s growing digital collections. PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Original and complex cataloging of monographs, periodicals, and electronic resources

Evaluating and maintaining catalog data to support resource discovery

Keeping current with issues and trends in cataloging and metadata management

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Master’s degree in library and information studies or equivalent experience

Working knowledge of integrated library systems and the structure of online catalogs

Experience with OCLC, MARC, and LCSH

Experience with one or more non-MARC metadata schemas (Dublin Core, Bibliographic Ontology, MODS, etc.)

Familiarity with content standards (e.g. RDA, etc.) and metadata systems

Understanding of existing and emerging descriptive principles and practices

Good organizational, time-management, and analytical skills

Demonstrated ability to work effectively, both independently and collaboratively, within a collegial environment

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Master’s degree in theology, religious studies, or related discipline

Experience conducting academic research
