The Internal Auditing Certificate program is a Langdale College of Business Administration (LCOBA) certificate-administered program with the purpose of enhancing and increasing internal auditing education particularly for those interested in obtaining certification as an internal auditor (CIA). The program is available to all LCOBA students that meet the certificate requirements. The director is Dr. Ron Stunda, who can be contacted at rastunda@valdosta.edu or 229-253-4228.

Why should I become a candidate for the IAC program? This certificate program demonstrates a level of accounting knowledge not achieved by others receiving a business degree. You obtain a specialized accounting knowledge-base in fraud and internal auditing.

What are the requirements to earn the IAC? To qualify, you must:

  1. Earn your BBA (business) degree
  2. Graduate with acceptable grades in the following courses:

Required of all LCOBA majors:

  • ACCT 2101
  • ACCT 2102
  • BUSA 2106
  • MGNT 3250
  • MKTG 3050

Specialized Courses:

  • ACCT 3100 Introduction to Fraud
  • ACCT 3700 Internal Auditing
  • ACCT 4980 Accounting Internship in Internal Audit

The 蜜桃影像传媒有限公司网站 internal audit group has offered internal audit internships in the past. They are unpaid but offer an excellent real world work experience. These are only in the fall semester and require either ACCT 3700 or ACCT 4800 and a 3.0 or higher GPA.

When are the IAC program courses offered?

ACCT 3100 is offered in the Fall semester.

ACCT 3700 is offered in the Spring semester.

ACCT 4980 should be in internal audit and taken after completing ACCT 3700 or ACCT 4800.

Attending a meeting of an Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) chapter

It is a good idea to attend at least one local meeting. These can be arranged by the Director of the IAC program. However, you may arrange your own attendance by contacting the chapter of your choice. Meetings typically include lunch and a one hour Continuing Professional Education discussion. The Tallahassee Chapter has included Assessing the Control Environment, Investigating Financial Crimes and Interviewing Techniques, and Auditing Risks in a Recession. Local Chapter links are below.
